Sample:

Horoscopes by Leah are Just For Fun
Your love Horoscope for the week  beginning 25th January 2010

Aries

Now is a time to put your affairs in order.Generally, the most attentive lover should be at the top of the list. Better still, make a decision to make or break and stop toying with the feelings of others.

Taurus

Your romantic advances are being met with resistance this week. Play hard to get and let your romantic interest do the running. They will be confused by your change in pace and will pay more attention to you.

Gemini

You are feeling fruity and a little impulsive, which is making those around you a little jittery. Try to harness that impulsive energy an arrange a romantic night out for your partner.

Cancer

Arguments seem to be the order of the day this week, as you feel irritated by your partner’s lack of enthusiasm for your ‘way of doing things’. Try to be patient and bottle-it, while this stormy week passes.

Leo

Things seem to be running smoothly this week, but as still waters run deep, you should never completely let down your guard. Always keep one foot on the floor when sleeping!

Virgo

You are vulnerable this week as your usual skeptics antennae are covered in pink bubble wrap. You are so loved up you cannot quite see the wood for the trees. Beware of deception.

Libra

Your imagination knows no limits this week and that flows into your love life with a boom….shake the room! Be careful not to wear your partner out, as quality is always preferable to quantity!

Scorpio

You re on fire this week and all set to make that big commitment, but hold your horses as one more week will not allow you to properly consider your options. If your love is true, your partner will still be there next weekend!

Sagittarius

This is one of the weeks, which you hope passes quickly. It is tedious and dull and you would sooner be somewhere else. Just do not let your partner know!

Capricorn

A fresh start is on the menu today, put the past weeks tensions behind you and look upon your relationship with fresh eyes.  It is amazing how different people look the morning after the night before and the beer goggles have come off!

Aquarius

Two’s company is beginning to feel a little less like a crowd than you would like. Arrange a get together with friends and enjoy a little space this week.

Pisces

Party on Pisces, lots of offers and invites on the table this week, if you are single then you will unlikely be for long. Pay attention to who is showing you special attention this week. Strike while the iron is hot.

Whose Birthday is it today – 25th January?

Famous Author Virginia Woolf was born on this day 25th January 1882. An English novelist and feminist she was regarded as one of the most modernist literary figures of the twentieth century.

If you can relate to any of the love horoscopes above, please do let me know in comments!

I shall be writing a weekly update (just for fun) so stay tuned!

NOTE: I consult an astrology site to get a general idea of what is happening in each star sign and then I throw my own unique spin/interpretation on it to create the fun and hopefully enlightening horoscope forecasts.

How to be a writer on the Internet

leave a comment »

People often ask me how they can become a paid writer on the Internet.

Writing for the Internet is a great work-from-home occupation and for creative people with good writing skills, this can seem like an ideal way to earn some extra cash.

However, finding paid Internet writing jobs writing isn’t as easy as some imagine. You can either do what I do and self-promote and draw clients to  you, or you can apply for writing jobs via writing job sites such as www.online-writing-jobs.com.

I got my first writing job via the site above. I applied for dozens of jobs before I got my lucky break. The pay was low but was worth it to enable me to learn the craft and build a portfolio.

I was also offered a lucky break by the owner of a community article site that I submitted free content to. I was offered a paid blogging job and quickly my content ranked higher than any other writers. I was proving myself as a high traffic pulling Internet writer.

Pay isn’t as important as learning the craft and building a portfolio. If you still want to be a writer on the Internet, read on!

Here are some tips as to how get started a writer on the Internet.

1. Build up a portfolio

Every Internet/website writing job you apply for will require you to submit samples. So begin building a portfolio. You can do this by setting up a free blog or by submitting contributions to community article sites like IcePop

2. Learn how to write website content

Website content differs to all other forms of writing. You can get some great tips on my site here.

3. Don’t expect it to be easy.

It’s not easy. There are a lot of writers to compete with and some are experienced journalists with degrees in English Language and Journalism etc. That doesn’t mean you can’t crack it as a great Internet writer though. Just learn the craft, apply yourself and be patient!

4. Network

Join writers forums and network. Learn from peers who can offer valuable advice as to how to get started.

5. Decide what you’re worth..£££ /$$$

As a new writer this might not be a great deal! You need to prove yourself first.

6. Approach writing jobs professionally.

Agree all terms in writing and issue invoices. Meet all deadlines and expect to do some re-writes.

I’ll add to these tips when I have more time, but this should help you get started.

Good luck!

Leah

How I write articles that rank high in search engines

leave a comment »

Knowing why people use the Internet is critical in delivering content that meets their needs, both in the subject matter and the manner in which content is presented.

Internet users are mainly browsing the Internet looking for information (answers) and as that information is often already covered in thousands of competing website articles you need to find a niche that is highly searched but not widely written about.

Niche website or article content needs to be presented in a concise, easy to navigate format to avoid those that scan content (most Internet users) from clicking away from your website.

Finding  such content is not easy but is time well spent if you can find a market your article can corner.

My article writing fee (£25 per 500 – 600 words) includes the following:

  • Market research re your target audience to find out what people want to know about your products or services or any area where you product or service is used.
  • I use a question tool to see if any questions are being searched in high volume.
  • I use a keyword tool to see what phrases are being used to find ‘answers’.
  • I will then do some Googling using some good results from the above research to see what high ranking content already exists in those areas.
  • If the ‘answers’ on those top three pages, have limited, irrelevant poorly written content, I know there is an opportunity for improvement with an article that ranks higher and delivers the goods.
  • Better still, if there is very little article content on that first page (and remaining two) I may well have found a niche topic to write about.

Note:

Just because there are no articles showing on that first page doesn’t mean there are not thousands of articles on that topic. What it does mean however is that in terms of content related to terms people are using in searches, they may be lacking and as such failing to attract search engines.

Thus when I write an article that does cover those keyword phrases that people are using to find those answers, your article has an increased chance of ranking highly and out-shining all the other articles in cyber space.

My article writing is thus

80% research and 20% writing

and your fee is well spent!

Not all article writers are this thorough,
offen they require you to suggest titles and keywords.

I offer a reduced fee for article writing
where you do all this work yourself!

But for me to do it, it’s covered in the £25 per 500-600 word fee.
Bargain!

How to draw cartoon caricatures digitally using cartoon drawing software Pixia – free

leave a comment »

As an artist, illustrator and cartoonist based in the UK, I am continually seeking to update my range of styles, be innovative and learn new drawing skills. With the introduction of digital art and the way it has taken the art world by storm (on the Internet at least) I am looking at ways I can enhance my hand-drawn traditional art images using drawing and cartooning software.

I’ve recently purchased a Wacom digital tablet to help draw digitally via the computer but I am reluctant to spend a lot of money on expensive corel art or photoshop drawing software. I have been looking at the drawing software that is available on the Internet for FREE. In doing so I came across Pixia cartoon and drawing software. Pixia is huge in Japan and now they have an English version.

I downloaded the Pixia software for FREE (it took just a few seconds to download) and started using it right away to shade a hand-drawn cartoon caricature of my own children. You can view the results below.

Cartoon caricature children

I drew this cartoon caricature by hand using a black gel pen and then shaded it using the FREE Pixia drawing software. The process was fairly simple.

I selected the icon that showed I wished to fill gaps with colour. I then selected the colour, selected the gap (by moving my mouse into the gap area and right clicking) then I went  to the paint-pot icon. The gap was then filled with the chosen colour. As well as colours Pixia has a variety of textures and allows multiple layered shading.

Below is a funky shading effect I created using the same Pixia drawing software.

This picture had already been shaded with felt-tips by hand. I wanted to see how I could use the hand-shaded and digitally shaded elements together. This is the result. A funky, modern and fairly unique cartoon caricature.

I actually got some votes this week and scored 7 points and came 9th position (out of 14 entries). That may not sound much but for me it’s a result! :)

Cartoon God – what God looks like

leave a comment »

When we see cartoon pics of God, he is always portrayed as an elderly white dude with long beard.

BUT…….

They say that God created man is his own image. So surely (based on how early man looked) God really looks like this…….
